Disfigurement is defined by us as an altered physical appearance which can be congenital, due to accidents, burn injuries, surgical intervention, skin deformities, illnesses or any other reason. 

We live in a society that strongly conforms to prevailing ideas of what constitutes beauty. These conventional ideals create an attitude of ignorance and even discrimination towards the physically ‘different’, less attractive and deformed persons.
 
The Palash Foundation was formed in an effort to socially and economically re-integrate people with disfigurement.
