Our activities include :

Picture
Moral support: Offering moral support to individuals with a condition of disfigurement by meeting them and providing useful information on burn injury and social reintegration.

Reintegration Programme: This is an effort to create an environment of social acceptance by conducting different day outs to locations that are perceived as hostile by the disfigured. It is also to create safe spaces for social interaction.

Workshops on Coping Skills: Workshops that help create a safe environment to deal with issues of coping disfigurement post hospitalisation. The workshop will look into addressing body image, self-esteem and self confidence by various experiential learning techniques and sharing of experiences.

Awareness Programmes: Palash feels that there a huge need to advocate the cause of the disfigured and educate society on the impacts of preconceived ideas on physical appearances through seminars, talks, and an online presence.

Referral system / Partnerships: Palash believes to create a holistic impact on the disfigured individual and his family it is crucial to form partnerships with organisations that offer expertise in different services like counselling, legal issues, medical aid, livelihood opportunities, hospitals with burn wards and any other service that can aid in the rehabilitation of the disfigured individual.

Currently you will find us at:

Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General (Sion ) Hospital, which has a dedicated burn ward offering the following services –

  • Moral support to burn patients and their caretakers by regularly interacting with them and addressing their grievances and concerns. Our approach is non-directive and we believe that with some encouragement and support the patient and the caretaker can overcome their trauma.

  • Follow up through home visits for 3 to 6 months post discharge from the hospital to enable social rehabilitation of the burn survivor.

  • Awareness and sensitization sessions on disfigurement and related concerns regarding recovery once in a month with care takers

  • Support groups for burn survivors once in a month

  • Social Reintegration by conducting two dayouts annually to experience a space of total acceptance and freedom from ones deformity.

  • We create awareness and sensitization on disfigurement and its social impact with people who are not disfigured through interactive sessions, seminars or presentations.
